Our team have significant experience in offering bespoke induction, mentoring and training for academy governance professionals, company secretaries and clerks. Many academy trust governance professionals are new to the sector, bringing prior experience in legal, policy or operational roles. We can offer time to governance professionals who are new to the sector to introduce them to the key aspects of academy trust governance, signposting to key guidance and further reading.
We also offer support for developing the practical skills involved in governance, from effective agenda planning to accurate minute-taking. As part of induction training, we build on our partnerships with The Chartered Governance Institute and the Confederation of School Trusts to provide access to additional resources. The cost for this service is bespoke according to the form of training and mentoring selected by your trust, and for more information you can contact Emma Perkin at email@example.com.
'The role of governance professional in academy trusts is both wide-ranging and niche, hence our trust recognised the need for expert advice on recruitment. We secured professional support from Emma Perkin who drew on her own extensive experience to produce the Job Description, Skills Matrix, Interview schedule and desk-top tasks to aid selection. Emma worked closely with the small group of Trustees delegated to make the appointment which resulted in the recruitment of a colleague from the legal sector, a trained solicitor with a thorough knowledge of compliance, albeit in a different area. To support the induction of the new recruit we asked Emma to oversee an induction/training programme. Emma's support through the whole process has been invaluable to the Trust. Clearly after almost six months we have been able to evaluate the success of the process, which we can wholeheartedly confirm.'
