Large MAT Governance Group
Recognising that governance at size brings its own complexities and issues, TGP set up and run the Large MAT Governance Group for governance professionals who work in Trusts with over 30 schools.
Over 40 trusts are now at this size and collectively this group supports over 1500 schools.
The group meets each half term to share best practice and discuss issues affecting the trust sector, from exclusions and complaints to growth and mergers, utilising their collective expertise to input into key guidance whether from the Department for Education or sector partners such as the Confederation of School Trusts.
The Department for Education attends most meetings of the Large MAT Governance Group.
Asked to draft non-statutory exclusions guidance for the DfE, we have also inputted into projects including:
* Informing the development of complaints processes
* Understanding the role of Members
* The impact of financial expertise on board effectiveness
The group advocates for all governance professionals, raising awareness of the role with our sector partners.
